  • Morgan Imossi, MS, CNS, CD-N

    Integrative Nutritionist

Growing up in a holistic home with Dr. Imossi as her mother (or, Dr. Mom as Morgan used to call her), and having spent countless hours of her youth running around the office, it now seems inevitable that Morgan would one day join the family business! Morgan started her career in marketing at a health & wellness media company in New York City; but quickly realized that she wanted to help people get healthier by working with them directly. She went back to school for her Master’s in Clinical Nutrition & Integrative Health, and has been working as an Integrative Nutritionist for several years now. She is a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) and is licensed in Connecticut as a Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CD-N).

Offerings: Morgan works with a diverse range of clients, focusing on GI conditions, metabolic health, and women’s health concerns (i.e. menstrual health, perimenopause). Her work encompasses the whole person, and aims to address root-cause issues to help restore balance in the body. Working with Morgan, you can expect to do a deep-dive into not only diet, but lifestyle (i.e. sleep, stress, movement), nutritional supplements and lab work - to find the best health plan that works for YOU. Morgan meets clients where they are at, to help reduce overwhelm and allow for realistic & sustainable change. She is passionate about encouraging positive relationships with food & body image, and uses intuitive eating and Health-At-Every-Size (HAES) principles to support clients in this area.

Morgan is available for clients Tuesdays & Thursdays.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health.  Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.

Chiropractic treatment

Chiropractors practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes detailed patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. They have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.

The most common therapeutic procedure chiropractors use is known as “spinal manipulation,” also called “chiropractic adjustment.” The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.

In many cases, such as lower back pain, chiropractic care may be the primary method of treatment. When other medical conditions exist, chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition.

Your visit: What to expect

In an initial visit, Dr. Imossi will take an in-depth patient history and exam, which she will use to create an individualized treatment plan. If needed, she will perform injury assessments and/or take x-rays, which she will fully explain to ensure patients have an understanding of their condition. Patients can enjoy a variety of therapy modalities, such as moist heat or cold therapy, spinal traction, and/or electrical stimulation, after which they will receive chiropractic adjustments.

Chiropractic adjustment rarely causes discomfort. However, patients may sometimes experience mild soreness or aching following treatment (as with some forms of exercise) that usually resolves within 12 to 48 hours.
